It's fascinating how I find myself unable to determine the exact count of our completely blind dogs. One would assume that blindness in dogs would greatly limit their lives, hindering them from experiencing a fulfilling existence in every aspect. However, that assumption couldn't be further from the truth. Dogs don't dwell on concepts like being "fully capable" or fixate on what they lack. Instead, they possess a remarkable adaptability, swiftly adjusting to circumstances such as missing limbs or sensory abilities. They embrace each day with joy and contentment, unburdened by thoughts like "I used to be able to do that." In our family, our blind dogs integrate so seamlessly that I can't even quantify their number accurately. They are so distinct from sighted dogs that they are effortlessly assimilated as integral members of our household, blurring the lines between visual and non-visual perception. I invite you to personally witness the incredible trio within our pack and see their exceptional nature firsthand.

Solomon
Solomon, a delightful addition to our family, joined us during the early stages of constructing our current residence on the expansive "new land." Despite arriving as a frail and aged individual, he quickly regained his vigor and embraced life with renewed spirit. Although completely blind, he possesses an uncanny ability to locate the entrance to our house and the door to his room without fail. His absolute favorite pastime is swimming in the pool, where he navigates the water gracefully, completing laps effortlessly. Afterward, he strolls across the hectare of land, serenely traversing the terrain without stumbling or encountering obstacles. It's a sight to behold, and one can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of pride on behalf of Solomon. He embodies the essence of simply living and enjoying life to its fullest extent.
Azart

Azart, blinded by seven gunshots, was saved and joined our family. Despite his blindness, he is a bright, calm, and sweet dog. He gets annoyed by the deaf dog grannies, barking at them from behind the partition. While walking, he stays close or grazes peacefully, but his third eye never rests. He is perfectly oriented and always finds me when called.
Yatagan

Yatagan, blind since childhood, arrived at our home as a frightened and emaciated figure, covered in sores. Despite lacking eyes, he possesses remarkable spatial awareness. Effortlessly navigating stairs, locating doors, and finding his way to comfortable resting spots, Yatagan showcases his impressive adaptability. He exhibits tenacity, gripping objects with his paws akin to a lemur. Additionally, Yatagan's webbed fingers give him an otherworldly appearance, which adds to his unique charm. Surprisingly, he possesses an insatiable love for swimming, defying the notion that his blindness would deter him from such activities. Fearlessly, Yatagan leaps into the pool and effortlessly climbs out without any assistance. His indomitable spirit shines through, proving that his blindness is no obstacle to his adventurous spirit.
Based on my personal experience of living with blind dogs, I have come to realize that they are incredibly capable and adapt well to everyday life. They navigate their surroundings with ease, confidently mastering stairs and becoming familiar with the layout of their home. Blind dogs exemplify a remarkable acceptance of both the external and internal world, embracing themselves and their environment without question. Their unwavering love for life serves as a valuable lesson for humans to learn. We could all benefit from adopting their resilient and appreciative outlook on life.
