Little did we know when we named him Brain, how accurately we would hit the mark! The name Brainstorm seemed fitting for our mighty and unpredictable pup, but little did we realize the irony it held. You see, Brain suffered a head injury in his early puppyhood at just three months old, which resulted in the loss of the entire right side of his brain. It's almost poetic to describe it as "almost total replacement of the right hemisphere's brain tissue with cerebrospinal fluid." So instead of a fully developed cerebral hemisphere, Brain's brain is filled with fluid.

In humans, this would be considered an incredibly severe disability, according to my neurologist friend who is an expert in human medicine. However, Brain defies the odds. Despite his unique condition, he still has full use of his limbs and responds to commands. In fact, Brain even aced our general training course! Can you imagine the remarkable nature of this one-of-a-kind dog?
We recently took Brain to the "White Fang" clinic for a comprehensive medical examination. At nine and a half years old, it was time for a thorough assessment, including longitudinal, transverse, and 3D MRI projections. We opted for the traditional route, which included blood and urine tests, a visit to the neurology department (with his trusted doctor), chest X-rays, and abdominal ultrasound. As a grand finale, an MRI scan was performed. The results of the MRI were shocking: Brain was found to possess only half of a brain, and there were complications with his pituitary gland. Although these findings weren't entirely surprising, as we had suspected them from previous examinations.
We are immensely grateful to the doctors for their professionalism and compassionate care toward our challenging patient. Their expertise and warm demeanor made a significant difference in Brain's journey.
